It might seem that every major health expert wants the Olympics to be postponed, or even canceled, so the rest of the world won't suffer the Zika virus. In Rio de Janeiro, one of the country's hardest-hit areas, the Summer Olympiad will take place in August. The country of Brazil and the International Olympic Committee, or IOC, won't budge because the two have already spent a massive amount of money constructing arenas and marketing events. The last thing the two want is to cancel the first Olympics since the 1940s. That means that massive amount of money will be wasted, tickets will have to be refunded, and the arena that was built will be nothing but a failure. So now you know; that's why the IOC is keeping it's stance. For Mirror Journal, this was Roan Thibault.
At Google's I/O developer conference about two weeks ago, the tech company announced the two Hangouts killers: Allo and Duo. While Duo's knock knock feature is cool, you can't use Knock Knock on iOS unless you're already in the app and I fear the video quality will be awful, just like calling on Hangouts. The real zinger is Allo. In Allo's simple, easy-to-use interface, Google is clearly present and it can even join your chat with search results. In addition, Google can even chat with you one-on-one. Another exciting feature is what Google calls WhisperShout. Basically, before sending, you can drag on the send button to make the text super small or super big. Also, Google is bringing the feature to draw on pictures in Hangouts to mobile in Allo. Finally, the thing that sets Allo apart is the Smart Reply feature. Smart Reply can suggest responses to text, like most predictive keyboards, but Smart Reply offers responses to images as well. Google says Allo comes out 'this summer,' but we really hope they mean late June and not early September. For Mirror Journal, this was Roan Thibault.
